Murphy Surveys’ Geophysicist Dr. Sónia Assunção has had her paper in collaboration with Polytechnic University of Catalonia “GPR Backscattering Intensity Analysis Applied to Detect Paleochannels and Infilled Streams for Seismic Nanozonation in Urban Environments” published in the Journal on Selected Topics in Applied Earth Observations and Remote Sensing.
Dr. Sónia Santos Assunção was born in Oporto, Portugal in 1987. The bachelor in Geophysics was carried out in Portugal in the University of Aveiro and in Greece, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and completed in 2009. She completed her masters in Geophysics in the University of Barcelona in 2010 she recieved her PhD from the Polytechnic University of Catalonia in 2014 (Excellent Cum Laude).
During her studies she worked in more than 10 countries in Europe and South America. Sonia is a member of the European project TU1208 Civil Engineering Applications of Ground Penetrating Radar, where she actively researches and publishes.
Sonia has worked as a geophysicist for Murphy Surveys since December 2014, and continues her research and scientific development.
