CitA

The ICE Awards is proud to partner with CitA for the BIM Excellence Category for the ICE Awards and will continue this positive association for the 2022 competition.

CitA Co-Founder Dr Alan Hore said: “CitA are delighted to be associated with the ICE awards in 2022. We see this as one of the premier construction award events of the year in Ireland. We were particularly impressed with the gala home event in November 2020 and how the organisers made it such a very special  and uplifting evening at what was a very challenging time for the country.”
“CitA very much value our strategic relationship with Irish Building, as Ireland’s leading provider of construction and building sector news. In particular the BIMIreland.ie and the Irish Construction Excellence Awards are invaluable vehicles to promote the work of CitA and celebrate excellence in Irish construction. We are very much looking forward to strengthening the partnership into the future.”

New Judges

For 2022 the ICE Awards is delighted to welcome two industry leaders from architecture and management respectively who will join the esteemed Judging Panel: Miriam Delaney and Marion Close.

Miriam Delaney

Miriam is an architect and lecturer at the Dublin School of Architecture, TU Dublin.  On joining the panel Miriam says: “I’m really looking forward to seeing the range of work submitted. In previous years the diversity of projects submitted and the challenges faced on specific projects gave great insights into the spectrum of work undertaken in construction in Ireland. The ICE Awards present an opportunity to showcase quality construction in a holistic way. Excellence in construction is difficult to achieve, when projects attain excellence it’s important to reward and celebrate that, to keep raising the standard of what is possible and expected. The breadth of categories and the range of work make the ICE Awards special, and the diverse backgrounds and experience of the judges ensure that projects will be evaluated under many themes.”

Miriam’s offers advice to companies considering entering the  ICE Awards 2022 and outlines what will help in selecting the finalists:

“My top-tip is to keep the information submitted clear and concise, but to make explicit what makes each project unique. The visual presentation of the work – good quality images and drawings – will be critical to us understanding the projects.

“The construction industry works through collaboration, and the best buildings are ones where synthesis is achieved in construction, design, and engineering.

“I’m also very interested in construction solutions and projects that address current climate demands for innovation – both in material and product development, and in construction solutions.”

Marion Close

Marion Close is an Associate Director at Linesight with twenty years’ experience in planning and scheduling, working with clients in a variety of sectors across the world. Commenting on the prestige of the ICE Awards and why it is important for the industry to acknowledge and celebrate construction excellence, Marion says: “The ICE Awards is widely acknowledged to be the most prestigious recognition of excellence for the Irish construction industry. Historically, the awards have always included some of the strongest market leaders and projects throughout all sectors and areas of the construction supply chain, so to be a part of the event is an honour. Finally, and most importantly, the criteria and structure of the awards are fairly measured and all companies are equally reviewed.”

It is essential to acknowledge and celebrate the leaders and ground breakers in the construction industry, and to recognise innovative and hard-working teams for their contribution. This will, in turn, drive the standards in all stages of construction.”

On joining the judging panel Marion says: It’s an honour to participate in the review and assessment of so many top companies, and to be able to recognise them for their contribution to the industry. Given that we have been living through such unprecedented times in the last year, I am interested to see the solutions and work-arounds that companies have adopted to complete their projects. I am also interested in getting an insight into each entrants outline of approach and execution of their nominated project.”

Judges tips are always valued by entrants and Marion believes the project team should only submit work they are proud of and want to celebrate and has a learning experience. Marion says entrants, “Should consider the things that are not necessarily visible such as new ways of working, innovations they made to keep the project on track and to keep everyone safe through the pandemic, or tips and tricks for dealing with different cultures, regulatory systems, etc, when working on international projects.”

The ICE Awards provides a fantastic platform for companies across the construction industry to celebrate their achievements. The closing date for entry is Friday 10 December 2021.

The ICE Awards 2022 Gala Event will take place on May 14 2022.
