CitA Tech Live is taking place 21-25 September. CitA have assembled 20 experts from across the globe for this event. Eva Gkenakou, Sustainability Director at Multiplex Europe talks to BIMIreland.ie about her upcoming presentation on the seven trends that are reinforced by COVID and have, in turn, the potential to significantly reinforce sustainability in the built environment. Eva’s talk is taking place on Monday, 21 September and she tells us what she is looking forward to hearing about over the week-long event.
Please tell us about your work.
Multiplex is a global contractor specialising in the construction of tall buildings in the residential, office, healthcare and tertiary education sectors. The focus of my work, the Sustainability Director of Multiplex Europe, is leading the development of strategies for sustainable construction of our clients’ developments and for a just transition of the company’s operations to a low carbon economy as well as driving industry collaboration initiatives, such as the UK Contractors Declare manifesto.
What is the focus of your CitA Tech Live presentation?
The focus of my presentation is the seven trends, or business opportunities, that are reinforced by COVID and have, in turn, the potential to significantly reinforce sustainability in the built environment and beyond.
Why is this topic important in Digital Construction?
Digital Construction is a current trend in the industry and at the same time, it plays a key role in transforming our industry by enabling us to better meet the needs of society today and tomorrow, enabling people, the planet and businesses to thrive.
Have you attended CitA events in the past?
It will be my first time attending a CitA event and I am lucky to have the opportunity to hear from such a stellar line-up of speakers and topics.
What are you most looking forward to hearing about at CitA Tech Live?
I am mostly looking forward to hearing everyone’s insights, perspectives and hopes for the new normal.

The speakers will help provide insights into how the construction industry is rapidly moving towards being more inclusive, innovative and collaborative by use of smart technologies.
