Irish Construction Excellence Awards – The BIM Categories

0

The Irish Construction Excellence Awards 2018 call for entry was launched at the CIF Conference on 12 October. The Awards has two dedicated BIM Categories which are in proud association with CitA.

Founded in 1993, and reinvigorated for 2018, the Irish Construction Excellence Awards will celebrate the best in Irish Construction and deliver a rigorous credible process of assessment.

Established by Irish building magazine, the leading construction media brand for Ireland, the Irish Construction Excellence (ICE) Awards will be the most prestigious recognition of excellence and the only truly independent prize for the contracting sector in Ireland. The Awards will give contractors an opportunity to showcase their capabilities to the industry, clients, and Irish society.

Culminating in a Gala Awards presentation evening in Dublin’s prestigious Mansion House in March 2018, the Awards will highlight the most outstanding entries across the categories.

This will be one of the most prestigious networking events in the Irish built environment calendar. Ireland’s construction leaders, directors, chief executives and partners from right across the construction sector including design team members and clients will gather to celebrate the pursuit and achievement of excellence in construction.

The ICE Awards BIM categories, delivered in association with CitA are:
BIM Excellence for a Building or Civil Engineering Contractor
BIM Excellence for a Specialist Services Contractor

CitA’s General Manager, Suzanne Purcell says CitA is proud to support the BIM ICE Awards, noting the rigorous judging process and asks CitA members to send in their entries.

“It is important to celebrate the achievements of the Irish Construction Industry in embracing BIM despite the absence of any formal position in respect to BIM by the Irish Government. The promotion of BIM and the support of industry in adopting BIM technologies, tools and processes will greatly assist in attracting young people to enter our industry.”

“CitA is delighted to be involved in the ICE Awards and to support the two BIM Categories: BIM Excellence for a Building or Civil Engineering Contractor, and BIM Excellence for a Specialist Services Contractor.”

“Following on from the success of the Irish BIM Innovation Awards in 2016 CitA encourages all of its member companies to enter the ICE Awards, taking place in 2018, under the two BIM Categories. The ICE Awards will be prestigious awards for BIM excellence and deliver a credible and rigorous process of assessment.”

These are not the only categories relating to BIM. ICE Awards Coordinator Daniel O’Neill says, “Third level colleges providing BIM and other construction related courses can also enter the  2018 ICE Awards. The ‘Third Level Course – Postgraduate, Special Purpose or Distance Learning’ category is open to any Irish third level college which offers postgraduate, special purpose or distance learning courses to construction industry professionals. These course entries can include but are not limited to the following subjects: BIM and Digital Construction, Lean Construction, Green Building and Sustainability, Health & Safety, Construction Law, Construction Management, Project Management, Quantity Surveying, and Civil Engineering.”
