The Landscape Institute (LI) is the UK body for landscape architects. It is a professional organisation and educational charity.
The LI has published a guide to Building Information Modelling (BIM) for landscape practitioners – BIM for Landscape.
BIM models all data relating to the design, costs and sustainability of a project from design through to construction and operation. This fully integrated, inter-disciplinary approach helps simulate a project and build prototypes creating a more efficient design and construction process.
BIM for Landscape addresses key BIM documents, looking at how to prepare for BIM, BIM implementation, and the technological aspects of BIM. The aim is to prepare practitioners and landscape architecture practices to meet the challenges and benefit from the rewards of working with BIM, and to help them evaluate whether BIM is relevant to their practice.
LI President Noel Farrer, said: ‘BIM for Landscape will be a helpful resource, not only for landscape practitioners but also for fellow professionals in related fields starting to understand the application of BIM to landscape work. This will provide an invaluable early guide to elements of good practice.’
