UK contractors Bechtel, VolkerFitzpatrick, and Balfour Beatty are the latest contractors in the UK to achieve verification certification to PAS 1192-2, covering design and construction for Level 2 BIM.
The British Standards Institution (BSI) has verified the three contractors ahead of the April 4th deadline which requires all UK Government projects to be PAS 1192-2 compliant. BAM Construct UK Ltd and Skanska UK were the first companies to be verified.
The BSI scheme helps designers and contractors, and their supply chains, to provide evidence that they have the capability to deliver projects using BIM. To achieve verification of BIM capability from BSI, contractors have to demonstrate that they adhere to the requirements of the PAS 1192-2 standard through an independent assessment by BSI.
Balfour Beatty’s Neil Thompson said: ‘This certification gives assurance to our customers that we utilise BIM to handle and manage information with the upmost degree of care and accuracy and to the highest standard, throughout project delivery.’
