Patricia Byron appointed Director General of the Society of Chartered Surveyors Ireland

The Society of Chartered Surveyors Ireland has announced the appointment of Ms. Patricia Byron as Director General designate of the SCSI.

Ms Byron, who is currently the CEO of the Injuries Board, will take up her new role next March.

Ms Byron has been in her current position since the Injuries Board was established in 2004. She previously worked in the insurance sector and is a former Chairperson of the Motor Insurers Bureau of Ireland and was the first female President of the Insurance Institute of Dublin.

She has served on the Board of the Institute of Public Administration and is a past Chairperson of the Association of Chief Executives of State Agencies. She is currently a member of the Central Bank Commission.

With over 5,000 members the SCSI is the leading independent professional body for construction, land and property professionals in Ireland. Welcoming her appointment, the President of the SCSI Pauline Daly said; “I am delighted to announce Patricia’s appointment. This is an important time for the Society and the expertise and experience which Patricia has built up – in both the public and private sectors – will enable her to provide the Society with the high calibre of leadership that will be necessary as it expands and develops over the coming years”.

Ms Byron said she was looking forward to working with the SCSI in the years ahead. “The Society plays a key role in the property, land and construction sectors whether it is representing and regulating its members or contributing to the development of public policy. I look forward to working closely with the Board, Council and Staff of the SCSI and the Society’s members across the country in consolidating and building on all it has achieved in recent years”

Ms Byron replaces Ms Ciara Murphy who was DG from 2007 to 2014.
