The Schools PPP project – part of a €1.4 billion PPP programme included in the Government’s Infrastructure Stimulus Plan – will see 10 new and replacement schools built in counties Carlow, Clare, Cork, Louth, Meath, Tipperary, Wexford and Wicklow. In total these schools will provide accommodation for approximately 7,850 students.
BAM PPP is the preferred tenderer for four of these school building projects
- Comeragh College, Carrick on Suir, Co.Tipperary
- Skibbereen, Co. Cork
- St. Joseph’s, Tulla, Co. Clare
- St. Mary’s, Dundalk, Co. Louth
The schools will be fully furnished and equipped (except for specialist educational equipment) as part of the PPP contract with elements of the fixtures, fittings and equipment to be maintained over the 25 year lifetime of the PPP contract.
There will also be an Enterprise Support zone at the event, where attendees can get information on business supports through the Local Enterprise Office network and Enterprise Ireland. The Department of Social Protection will provide delegates with information on the Pathways to Work initiative (including the Jobs Ireland Services) and check eligibility for the JobsPlus scheme.
Brian Murphy, Chief Executive of the NDFA, which is responsible for the delivery of €650 million of education, health and justice PPP projects under the Stimulus Plan, said: ‘These events are a great opportunity, both for possible suppliers and the preferred bidder. SMEs get direct access to the buyer while the buyer has the opportunity to meet suppliers face-to-face and find out about their capabilities. And of course the resulting business relationships can also have a wider application beyond this individual project’.
Julie Sinnamon, CEO Enterprise Ireland, said: ‘The national school building projects are a boost to regional economies and we are working closely with the Local Enterprise Office network, the local Chambers of Commerce and industry associations to ensure local suppliers are made aware of this important pitching opportunity with BAM PPP.
Our Public Procurement team is working with the public sector to help Irish SMEs win contracts/projects with the Irish public sector. These contracts are both lucrative and are excellent reference sites as they sell into export markets”.
