A Cork company, which is the country’s largest exporter of business process outsourcing, is planning to create a further 500 jobs next year, reports today’s Irish Examiner.
Vox Pro, which is based in Mahon, recently opened an office in San Francisco and intends that the jobs will help it serve 20 new international client contracts.
The company, which was founded by Dan and Linda Kiely 15 years ago, plans to double its workforce to 1,000 by 2015.
Dan Kiely said that Vox Pro aims to become one of the largest employers in Cork within the next two years and to expand its global workforce to 4,000 by 2018.
It’s been a major success story for the company because when Dan and Linda started business in the late 1990s, they had just six staff and struggled to secure a loan to keep it going.
Initially the bought a packing company and then branched out into the call- answering industry.
The vision for Vox Pro, which is expected to have a turnover of €15m this year, is to expand globally in the years ahead.
Despite their global outlook Linda says their Cork operation remains at the heart of everything they do.
“We’re expanding very rapidly. We have got very aggressive growth plans for the next two to three years,” Dan added.
“We want to become one of the biggest employers in Cork, providing employment and graduate jobs that change the perception of the call centre industry, because people typically think call centre jobs are low-end transient jobs. In fact 80% of our staff here are graduates and we’re going to employ more graduates over the next two years,” he said.
Linda said that the company now provides customer and technological support to multinationals globally.
She said it’s been absolutely appalling to see the brain drain from this country caused by the recession.
“The message we’re trying to send out is that there are jobs out there. All these skills are badly needed and we’re hoping the opportunities we have at Vox Pro will attract young people back again,” Linda said.
Their company has been listed as one of the eight finalists for the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year competition in the international business category.
