Alan Kelly, TD, Minister for Public and Commuter Transport, today announced over €3.7M worth of sustainable transport investment projects for Galway.
The funding is part of the regional cities sustainable transport programme and will go towards improving the walking, cycling and public transport experience for city commuters.
Minister Kelly stated: “We want more people to use public transport, cycle and walk. But people need the necessary infrastructure to make the choice to change their mode of travel. This investment programme is a welcome step to improve local traffic pinch points and to enhance more sustainable transport patterns for the people of Galway City. We don’t have as much funding as we want but we are making the best use of what we have,” stated the Minister.
“The investment in Ceannt bus station is very welcome. Bus, Rail and Taxi passengers have been on top of each other with narrow footpaths and unclear bus bays. Now this will change and revised layout of the whole court will be put in place,” added the Minister.
