The inaugural launch of London’s Digital Construction Week was hosted at the Embassy of Ireland by Enterprise Ireland on 20th October 2015.
The Keynote addresses were led by Dr David Hancock, Head of Construction, Cabinet Office; Mr David Philp, Head of the UK Government’s BIM Task Group and Mr Kevin Rudden, President of the Association of Consulting Engineers of Ireland (ACEI).
On behalf of the Construction Industry Council (CIC) Kevin Rudden made the following statement on the future of BIM within the Irish construction sector: “The Construction Industry Council (CIC) embraces a BIM enabled world. CIC actively encourages the Irish Construction and Built Environment Sector to continue to take full advantage of current and emerging information and communication technologies to remain at the forefront of the industry in Europe. The CIC views BS1192, PAS1192 and BS8536 as important routes towards standardised BIM implementation.”
The announcement was made in tandem with the launch of the first Irish national survey to benchmark the level of BIM adoption in Ireland. The report reveals that of the industry representatives sampled there is a 75% increase in demand for BIM in Ireland, with 67% indicating a confidence in the industry to deliver BIM effectively
Enterprise Ireland are industry partners for Digital Construction Week and in addition to hosting the opening reception supported a BIM Ireland pavilion at the Digital Construction Show. Over the two days, the BIM Ireland pavilion showcased Ireland’s transition, alongside the international capability and innovative technology from a portfolio of leading companies.
