Come to Croke Park for the 2017 CitA BIM Gathering

0

The 2017 CitA BIM Gathering at Croke Park on 23 and 24 November will have a great speaker line-up and keynote speakers are coming from around the world. The event will also be Ireland’s leading academic forum for BIM and Digital Construction.

Overview of the 2017 Gathering

The 2017 CitA BIM Gathering will build on the success of the 2013 and 2015 events and once again Irish building will be the event media partner. The past Gatherings were great educational and networking events which brought industry, academia and government together to debate the impact of digital technologies in Irish construction. This conference specifically focuses on unravelling the complexities of introducing Building Information Modelling (BIM) into the Irish Construction Industry which is both fragmented and conservative in its use of innovative technologies.

The construction industry around the world is made up of a complex web of professional representative groupings working largely in isolation and in non-collaborative project environments. The Gathering will also be Ireland’s leading academic forum for BIM and Digital Construction. The main themes of this year’s Gathering will focus on global adoption, governmental use, BIM for SMEs, education and training, procurement, case studies, Lean Construction, sustainability, standards, and digital technologies to support BIM. The 2017 Gathering will again be organised by the experienced CitA conference team and organisation committee.

CitA’s Dr Alan Hore on the Gathering Schedule

Speaking to Irish building, Dr Alan Hore outlines that attendees can look forward to a busy schedule for the two days in November. “The event will include in excess of 100 presentations. Attendees will be aware at this time of the National BIM Council Digital Transition Roadmap and are likely to be updated on the mobilisation programme that is likely to start in early 2018. The event provides a significant opportunity for Ireland’s construction industry to showcase its capability to embrace digitisation and to announce its commitment to BIM on an international stage.”

Alan speaking of the historic and landmark venue: “Croke Park has proved to be a world-class conference venue in recent years. It is the 3rd largest Stadium in Europe, only the new Wembley Stadium and Barcelona’s Camp Nou are bigger, a prime visitor attraction in Dublin and home of the world’s largest concerts and sporting events in recent years. It was an obvious choice. This is our second event in Croke Park as CitA were one of the first organisations to use the new stadium over 10 years ago”.

This Gathering is the highlight of the Irish BIM Community’s year and the best networking opportunity for professionals.
